There are many situations which may require first aid, and many countries have legislation, regulation, or guidance which specifies a minimum level of first aid provision in certain circumstances. This can include specific training or equipment to be available in the workplace, the provision of specialist first aid cover at public gatherings, or mandatory first aid training within schools. First aid, however, does not necessarily require any particular equipment or prior knowledge, and can involve improvisation with materials available at the time, often by untrained people.
By administering immediate care during an emergency, you can help an ill or injured person before EMS, Emergency Medical Services arrive. And you may be able to help save a life. However, even after training, remembering the right first aid steps – and administering them correctly – can be difficult. In order to help you deliver the right care at the right time, the red cross youth of Mombasa team was kind enough to offer free basic first aid awareness at Swahilipot hub, on Friday 2nd August.
It was a very interactive session of knowing basic needs or items to carry around with In case one does not own a first aid kit. Members learned that there are many tools at home that could help in more than one way. This was one way of strengthening the bond between red cross youth and swahilipot hub members. A way of welcoming them to Swahilipot hub, a short dissemination session, networking and getting to know each other. Find photos below.
